hi,

i have a pair of Adire Audio Extremis lying around for more than a year already. As i want to install them, what tweeters are best used or matched/suitable with it?

planned to power with JL Audio 450/4 and using the onboard crossover.

thanks

Could someone move this out of the Fi section?

Thanks for the feedback guys :)

what kind of tweeters do Ascendant have?

I'll check out Seas & Hybrid Audio tweets. The Scanspeak Revelator is nice but darn expensive.

What is a good non-ear piercing Seas tweets?

///M5, you're saying that the Extremis mid-range performance is not really that good that it is more suitable for use as midbass driver?

To use 2" or 3" driver is mainly for horn setup yep?

The d2904/6000 has an Fs of 750 hz, IIRC. Nice, robust tweeter.

i would guess that is Scanspeak tweeter. How low can it be crossed?

Just wondering, what is so good about Scanspeak Revelator tweeter?

thanks

Anything lower than 1100hz on my D2904's and they complain.

I wasn't recommending a 2 or 3 for use in a horn, just a full range so that you actually have midrange as well. You "can" use the Extremis as a mid, but it excels at midbass and I'd try and keep it there.

i have the Adire Audio Koda component set. If i put the Extremis as the midbass driver here in 3-way setup, will it be ok?

or is it too much to ask from 6.5" driver to be a good midrange

Never look at the freq. response when determining how low a tweeter can play.

At VERY minimum 2*Fs with a very sharp high pass filter. Personally, I wouldn't run a tweeter at lower than 2.5*Fs... but then again, I've never blown a tweeter before. :o

P.S. You did look at the dimensions & price of that sucker right? :o

only horns I have personally heard have been image dynamics - they have all sounded nice, but the best I have heard is the cd2's in a dodge.....one of the best sounding cars I have ever heard....also had the most realistic drums I had ever heard

what horns do you recommend :)

the Image Dynamics horn cost to me is kind of out of my budget.

The Scans tweeters are kind of high to me as well but seems nice ;)

thanks for the reply.

will adding a tweeter help? say going for 3-way setup.

if say use a full range driver eg. CSS FR125SR 4.5" driver, a tweeter is still needed as well?
