The guy(Pat told me 10 days ...right?)......When Heather dropped it off the guy there(not Pat) said it would be 10 days from the time they look at it....and they said it could be up to 2 1/2 weeks before they can even look at it........worry time?

My DEX-P9 does the exact same thing. Opens about half way and then closes right up. Luckly I have a changer so I can still listen to more than one CD over and over.

Anyway, I was told by someone that fixed Pioneer heads for a living that the ribbon was probably bad. The ribbon from the unit gets worn out and throws an intermittent, basically.

I bought a replacement ribbon from Pioneer right off their website and it came in a few days. I have not fixed it yet, so I cannot say for sure that the problem will be solved. But for you, it might be worth a try.

I found one......teehee.......the only kicker is I won't get it till the first of the month.....like it takes me long to set it up...hahahahaha

update.......Well I got a call from the service guy and he said it was gonna be $540 to replace the control assembly, he said that is what it needs....I know I have a HU for Elite but $540 for a whole new control assembly(some guys HU don't cost that damn much).....oh yeah....the best part...the part is on a 90 day plus back order.......oh what to do??

i just give the pioneer service central to repair my HU. but as Dave_edwards say, i think is too expensive for this repairing.
