first off here is my box:

here are the plans i used to build it:

2.26cuft@34hz

i have a 12" fi Q BP power off 1200 clean watts and it sounds great in the car but when i pop the trunk while the sub is playing there is this whistling and its really annoying... seems to happen worse on low notes... what is the cause, not enough port area? cuz i am pretty sure there is plenty of port for this sub

ive already decided i'm building a new box eventually but this is an annoyance that i would like to avoid with my next build

tia!!

if you rounded off the corner in the port and the corners around the port opening, it would probably lessen the whistling.

already did that... its just not in the pic lol

thx for the advice tho :drink40:

Are there any air leaks?

~48 sq in should be plenty for a single 12"

hmmm

i'll check again but when i first noticed it i didnt feel any air coming out except for in the port

i know when i stick my arm in the port to try and block the air some, the whistling changes some...

i'll have to check tomorrow tho dont want to wake the neighbors XD

check your speaker terminals on the box (if you have one) for leaks there.. i had that problem once..

with that size port, you shouldn't hear much whistling.. a leak somewhere is most likely the problem..

get some pvc pipe and cut it and put it on the edges, works alot better than sanding
