Posted July 26, 200817 yr Hey all I am new here and semi-new hooking up car stereo... that being said I need some help hooking up my new Sundown 1000dthe manual says for 1-4 ohm 1 speaker configs to use both positive and then runs a neg line fom the woofer towards the amp... notice i said towards... the positive leands stop on the positive terminals of the amp but the negative lead routes toward the amp and then stops.... Im a newb I know but Id rather ask how then to tell you how I burnt my truck down or fried my brand new amp!! thanks in advance.
July 27, 200817 yr should mean the obviousrun negative terminal of speaker to negative terminal on amp
July 27, 200817 yr Author so run that neg to ANY negative terminal right? now why would I use bot positive terminals? I always thought it was neg of one side and pos of the other .... just fishing here... thanks for the reply.
July 27, 200817 yr Author looked at the manual and the terminals are arranged like this... pos, neg, neg, pos. with leads cooming off both pos terminals and ending at the speaker and only one neg lead coming from speaker and ending at the amp... maybe that explains it a bit better... just being careful to not tear anything up.
July 27, 200817 yr I have one 2ohm kicker cvt unported. and I want to hook it up 2ohm load.Unported....lol.... You mean sealed? If you have one 2 ohm DUAL voice coil sub then you CANNOT have a final load of 2 ohms. You can buy second one though and have a final load of 2 ohms, but your power might not be sufficient for the both of them.
July 27, 200817 yr wait are you asking if the 1000d is a mono block amp or a stereo(R&L) amp? like asking how to " bridge" or are you asking how to configure your ohm load to the amps highest power based on your sub and amp combo..... i read this question right after you posted it... but your question was very undecided.... have more direct questions for more help. it is a mono block.. so if you have only one set of voice coils on that sub the you would hook the + up to any + and the - up to any - on that amp. if you have a dual voice coil then you need more help.
