Posted August 13, 200817 yr I am building a new enclosure to put in the trunk of a car...It will be built with the sub facing upward, so which direction should i face the port?Should it fire towards the front, side, or back?I do not want to fire it towards the back if I do not have to because it make the trunk lid rattle more...Please help me w/ this asap... Thanks guys.
August 14, 200817 yr had the same problem decideed to port to the side. one of the threads of BJ's says that fireing the port to the side lowers the cars peak a few hz. what kind of car you got?
August 14, 200817 yr Author In my signature:2006 Pontiac Grand PrixVery flat car... pretty good sized cabin. This is for a daily driver only, not for competition.I'm just looking for which direction will give me a best compromise between a low freq w/o losing too much spl.thanks
August 14, 200817 yr finally found the thread http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=19678 go about halfway down.
August 14, 200817 yr Author ahh i see.So the only question is whether i should fire the port to the right or left...one will make it louder to me, and one will make it louder to the mic. hmmmm...opinions?Thanks for that thread bro
August 14, 200817 yr i have mine firing to the passenger side but only cause i drive a grand am the the rear seat folds down but in halfs. so i fold the passenger side down to let bass in the cabin. plus my box isn't very big so i can cram it ll the way up agaisnt the wall and still be able to use some of my trunk.
August 14, 200817 yr Author Oh ok.Now this might be personal opinion, but do you think that 3.5 inches of clearance from the bottom the sub to the wood on the bottom is enough?I'm pretty sure it should allow plenty of ventilation, but i just want to make sure. Thanks
August 14, 200817 yr ya i heard atleast 1inch is needed so 3.5 should be plenty. i would be more worried about bracing on that piece.
