Posted September 1, 200817 yr I have a Pioneer RX-560 home reciever, and speakers. Has MTX Thunder 3000 subs in it, thats it. right side is gone on the unit, only the left works. I was playing tones and it pops when I start stop the tones and a high pitch ringin out of the mids.I just use this thing to play music out of my computer, and I'm using 3.5mm to rca ran under my baseboard to the reciever and it is hooked into the aux.I'll have a video..
September 1, 200817 yr If the receiver has a blown side, the unit is probably borderline unstable. The high pitch you hear is probably a mid to high band oscillation. The popping could be bad cap or more, decoupling when they shouldn't be....maybe....You have blown output transistors on one side, with no doubt probably damage to the pre-driver/driver stages. It probably won't be long until the other side dies.....

I got it all for free.It only does that high pitch thing when playing tones from any of the programs I have.. Do you think the speakers themselfs are damaged?
September 1, 200817 yr Author is there a better solution that having this big clunker on a shelf. I only use it to power the mids/tweeters and the two MTX Thunder Series 3K subs.Oh, the dustcaps on all the speakers (not woofers) are pushed in. One has a hole in the cone. So Might put new mids/tweets in it. But I would like to get a better solution to the reciever. I don't need cd or anything. Just need to use the 3.5mm to two RCA cable I have comin out the soundcard.
September 1, 200817 yr You could probably find a vintage integrated amp on Ebay for $100ish that'll last you a lot longer...
September 1, 200817 yr Author What about using a sub amp and another amp for the mids and highs and thats it?http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/ge...nt=MOV01274.flv theres a video.my cousin gave me this setup, his kids pushed in the dustcaps.
September 1, 200817 yr That's what I meant.Integrated for the speakers, plate amp or whatever for the subs...
September 1, 200817 yr Author I don't know if the subs are 4 ohm or 8. My cousin told the shop what he was wanting to do, replace the stock woofers with these subs. I can't get them out right now, because the wires are really tight. But if I get a new box built, they'll be coming out.I would like something that takes up less space. Can you get a home sub amp that you don't need to mount into the box?
September 1, 200817 yr Can you get a home sub amp that you don't need to mount into the box?Yes, but you may not be able to find one as cheaply as you could a plate amp.
September 2, 200817 yr Don't see why you couldn't......as long as the plate amp can cool itself.Like Jim says, find a integrated amp/receiver be it vintage or whatever for front and right stereo, and a plate amp for the subwoofer. You may find out the setup will sound much better, especially if the plate has a variable internal xover or whatever, to blend the subwoofer with stereo L/R speakers.I run a stereo 1/4" jack to RCA jacks right out of the PC into a old JVC 60 watt integrated amplifier.I think my PC has a sub LF out, but I don't worry about it much. September 13, 200817 yr Author Yea guys I think my reciever is finally taking a poopie. Its seems like it somebody is turning up and down the volume a lil bit even though its not being touched.. like it faints. How is this unit?http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=252-125Not sure how I am going to power the two MTX Thunder 3000s. Plate amp I guess. Edited September 13, 200817 yr by Gearstix
September 14, 200817 yr Author I'd rather get something older, but that's just me...I emailed a bunch of people about them and there in the nearest largest city, and they won't ship them to me..
