Posted September 4, 200817 yr Hey guys. I just picked up a new RE SX 15. Its going to be powered by a Sundown 1500D in a '08 Scion xB. I need help designing the box though. RE calls for 3 cu ft minimum, 4 cu ft optimal, and I would like to tune for 32Hz, sub firing up. The sub displaces 0.18 cu ft. The dimensions I have to build the box are 38.5"x18.5"x19". The pictures below should help to visualize. If there is too much space there, I'd like to cut a couple inches off the height, and then if still too much room, a couple off the width (18.5").Help needed! ~Trevor
September 5, 200817 yr 38.5*18.5*19 minus 1.5 for wall thinkness = 110007.5 Divide by 1728 = 6.37 cubic foot internal grossSo you got the space to work with. Fooling around quick and dirty with WinISD I see a 4.00 foot tuned to 32 gets a 6" aero port 14 inches long. If you are worried about size then a round port will help you save the dimensions and weight of a slot port. Assuming a cylinder volume of 395 cubic inches and a speaker volume of 311 cubic inches and keeping the L and W the same and then goalseeking it in excel would seem that you could bring the external height to 13.75 inches. That should give you a net internal volume of 6912 cubic inches. You'll want to do some bracing so you gotta figure that into the internal volume.Have fun!
