September 26, 200816 yr Painting MDF takes time and patience. Have fun and good luck man.And the box looks great dude! Edited September 26, 200816 yr by nick_19
September 26, 200816 yr Author Painting MDF takes time and patience. Have fun and good luck man.And the box looks great dude!lol thanx man.. is painting it hard? ima test paint on a scrap peice of mdf before i do the real deel
September 26, 200816 yr It's not hard. It's just like trying to paint a sponge. MDF really "soaks" up the paint and gives you an uneven sort of appearance. Here is one solution:http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=21673Something interesting you can also do is what I do. Get some of that fleckstone spraypaint, and put a layer of that one, let it dry, then add color. It will be colored evenly, and it will also be textured. Don't know if you want that or not. Here is a pic of my box w/ the fleckstone paint and to show how uneven paint looks.
September 26, 200816 yr Author and guess what yall?? more updates! he bought tha t1's today, and tha amp came in too.. heres some pics )audioque 2200DRockford T1 15's sittin beside tha aq2200
September 26, 200816 yr Another tip with painting MDF- don't use water-based primer (like Latex). MDF is extremely absorbent, not just on the end-grain. The water will soak into the mdf and create a rough texture. The crappy thing about oil-based primers is the cleanup (paint thinner). But no matter what, if you want a smooth finish you're gonna need to sand after priming.
September 26, 200816 yr I use a laquer based sealer primer-the type you'd use on a car prior to painting.. it doesn't get absorbed as easily and give a good surface to paint.

September 27, 200816 yr yep... the sealer primer works much better than the regular primer.. the regular seems to be absorbed more easily..
