Posted September 8, 200817 yr i have a 1000 bucks to spend on audio for a bus. i know its not alot but i would really like to stay on budget, its a party bus so it must be loud, and full sounding, i know that in a buss its gonan have a huge echo effect but i can work on that part later.. i will be meeting with my partner later to iron out more details but for now a rough idea would be helpfull to give him and my self an idea of what were looking at.... here are a few pics.. it looks a little more.. full now... it has seats along the walls... ill post new pics later on with the seats in.
September 8, 200817 yr you probably need some PA subs since that bus is so much bigger than a normal vehicle.
September 8, 200817 yr you probably need some PA subs since that bus is so much bigger than a normal vehicle.Just something to keep in mind, a lot of woofers that people use in "normal" size vehicles work really well at home...in spaces a lot larger than a bus Just because something says it's for public-address use doesn't mean anything really special. What's the interior going to look like - will there be any other places you could build speakers into (and hide wires, etc...)? I'm thinking something like Radian in-wall speakers, maybe three on each side.
September 8, 200817 yr you probably need some PA subs since that bus is so much bigger than a normal vehicle.I was thinking the same thing. Like some 18's in a big ported box. And some PA-style mids & highs, too. Like a 10" and a horn, or something.

I still like the 18 though

I'm thinking something like Radian in-wall speakers, maybe three on each side. i was just at the shop but i had to run as the wrecker company keeps me so busy.. i will get more pics tonight. but i know i can run wires. thru the light mount holes in the insides of the walls.. my first thought was to put 6 or so full range or coaxels and then do 2 15's or 18's but my budget keeps me from going huge on it. what do those Radian's run price wise... and any thoughts on cheap amps to run this build.
September 8, 200817 yr I've got some Madison X 21" PA subwoofers, 4" voice coil 1000watt rms rated... THey're just hanging out in the store room...I got ambitious when I dj'ed and bought four of them, used one and the rest sat. the one in 4.5cubes tuned at 30 was enough to rattle the heck out of our biggest nightclub. You could feel it in you chest when you walked in the door.. dance floor was 6500 square feet I ran the one on 2.5k with no issues (other than frying the home-made passive x-overs)

September 8, 200817 yr haha, thats pretty bad ass, i always wanted to do one, but rushnrun, i play bass guitar and i just blew my 15 on my amp and i need a neww sub, would you be willing to sell another one, and if so, how much?
September 8, 200817 yr Author it looks like a prison bus to me... but my parnter likes the way it looks.. i think it needs flames smoke stacks and some wheels. i want to remove half the lights and replace them with speakers. walls will be put up behinf the driver and also on the passenger side so the wood was not ran all the way to the front for that reason.. maybe sub towers.
September 8, 200817 yr I've got two left One is new never been taken out of the box, the other has been mounted powered up to show a potential buyer and removed.200 shipped each to lower 48 states or pm me an offer. I don't need them anymore, I no longer DJ I do still have the friggin huge box for the dj use...
September 9, 200817 yr http://www.carvinguitars.com/speakers.phpwhen i used to DJ we ran speakers from these guys, 4 x 15" 2 way cabinets, and 1 x 18" subwoofer with about 5kw of Crown power. killer stuff for the money and you don't pay much cause it's factory direct. i also had a set of 4 cerwin vega pa speakers, i believe they were called v-152 or something, those were great as well. that will be a acoustic challenge, good luck. you will most likely need alot of foam Edited September 9, 200817 yr by manbeer
September 9, 200817 yr Author http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...FTOKEN=650417993 pairs of these??? any feed back.
September 9, 200817 yr ^the only thing about those is that in a noisy environment like that the midbass presence of a large diameter (12, 15 etc) full range driver works best. we used smaller satellites and sub at different venues and i don't think it'll have the "ooomph" that you are looking for in a loud bus at highway speeds even with the sub.
September 9, 200817 yr you said thay are 21 inch drivers? are thay 8 ohm?21 inches, eight ohms single vc
September 9, 200817 yr Author i hear that..... i plan on running a sub system aswell.... still very open to suggestions
September 9, 200817 yr http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...FTOKEN=650417993 pairs of these??? any feed back. The Dayton audio drivers are great/affordable drivers. I run all dayton for my home theater and couldn't be happier.as for the specific one's your looking at... I've never had that particular speaker but I am very familiar with their raw woofers (I build my own cabinets and x-overs)very good productssound great and affordable to boot..
September 9, 200817 yr maybe try the 8" version77% more cone areabut then it's also 66% more cost....:|I'll look at the raw's and see if there's a good 10"mid/tweet combo...
