Posted September 9, 200817 yr Ok my subs are set to never really pop or clip unless you put alot of gain up i have my gain set right according to the dmm set at 43 volts Running a sundown 1500d at 1.5 - 2 ohms. Well i know its not the subs they can take a harder beating by mean turning the gain up higher just distorting them a lil bit so thats not the problem. The popping seems to only happen when on the highway with all windows down doesnt do it when in the city with windows down. So what is the problem here? I have the volume the same spot on samg song in the city and nothing happens. Can someone help me out with this.
September 9, 200817 yr Author Find someone with an oscilloscope and set it up properly.i dont know anyone who has one do you think shops have them?
September 9, 200817 yr where r u located at?And r u sure that is what you are hearing too? That sounds very odd for any speaker to bottom out just because you are driving faster.Your rpms generally would be the same on the highway, just more steady.More wind is happening so more things move and more sounds appear.... may not be speakers.Extra vibrations could be causing a speaker short and you are hearing speakers pop due to a loose connection. You listen to a lot of hip POP and that is what's causing it, lolThere's some ideas.

I had a hatch back that the turbulence of the wind would cause my 15 it to move irregular... even when it was off... not saying that's the problem.... just saying it could happen.... if you notice it popping roll the windows up and see if it stops... Thx for the up ill look into it.
September 9, 200817 yr You could spend all kinds of time with a DMM, O-scope, test CDs and an audio shop. OR, you could do it all by yourself by simply turning the volume down a notch...I don't know about your driving/wind problem, but, if you can bottom out a sub all that it means is thatyou have an enclosure efficient enough to get the full stroke out of the driver with the available power, and this is a good thing. Building a different box so the subs can "Handle more power" is really stupid, because all you will accomplish is lower your efficiency, and 99% it won't be louder.Turn the volume down.
