Posted October 7, 200816 yr what are the benefits of using ur subwoofers on a external crossover? is there any difference from using a subsonic filter. running subs @ 35hz.
October 7, 200816 yr if the external crossover is a subsonic filter, then there is obviously no difference. If the external crossover is a low pass filter, then your amp should have one, so no difference again (unless different slopes).
October 8, 200816 yr crossover is a crossover is a crossover.difference is that it can be built in or you can buy an external one...no difference
October 8, 200816 yr Author i have an external crossover so do i need to set the subsonic filter on the amp? i think the freq. range on the crossover regulates the highest freq. able to be reached and the subsonic sets the lowest freq. that will be played. does this sound right?
October 8, 200816 yr right. Your amp doesn't have a low pass crossover? You can use both the subsonic and low pass on the amp, it's not one or the other.
October 8, 200816 yr Author so the low pass on the amp and crossover need to be set at the same frequency? and what should i set my subsonic filter to? my box is 35hz.
October 8, 200816 yr There is normally a switch to turn the low pass filter on. Then you turn the crossover frequency to whatever you want the low pass filter to be at. The subsonic should have its own on switch and frequency dial. You'd probably want to set that to 25-30 hz.
October 11, 200816 yr If your amp has a low pass filter on it, why are you using an outboard crossover?
