Posted October 14, 200816 yr Hey everyone, I am taking the car in tomorrow to get my amps installed and I need to go get a wiring kit. I am looking for some quick advice on what I need and what gauge wire, I really would rather purchase this before hand then get overcharge at the shop. I want to go ahead and get all the wiring I will need for 2 sundown 1200's and a Sundown 100.4 I also am having a friend do the Big Three, What wire type/gauge will I need for that. I am only going to be running 1 or the 1200's and a older 2 channel amp, but I want them them to go ahead and install all of them so when I get the electrics upgraded I can go ahead and have it ready.ThxJoshP.S. I am having this done (install not Big 3) done tomorrow at 10am, so if anyone can help me before hand I would really appreciate it.
October 14, 200816 yr I would run 0/1 for power from the battery (remember to fuse it by the battery). Buy a distribution block and run 4 awg out of it to the amps (also fuse these I believe). You also might want to look into a secondary battery. What type of vehicle you have will determine how much wire you will need. So what is it going in?
October 14, 200816 yr with almost 3k watts and 3 amps I'd actually go bigger than 1/0. You won't find that in a wiring kit, you'll have to buy it all separately. Which sometimes works out in your favor because some kits charge extra because of the name on it or for throwing in things you don't need.

And it is going in a 08 Mazda6
October 15, 200816 yr You could do 2 runs of 0/1 or 0/2, 0/3 etc. You can find that wire on www.weldingsupply.com I believe. Wire is wire is wire.
