Posted October 15, 200816 yr Okay well i got into car audio about 6 months ago. I recently purchased 2 Diamond D1 12's, a 2 farad 2000 watt capacitor, and Memphis pr 100.2. I have all of the above installed in the back of my girlfriends explorer because im getting all new stuff for my car in December, this was kind of a test type install. I installed everything myself. I have a chitty box that they are sitting in right now. Just getting into car audio, i wasn't sure what to look for when buying a box. I just bought one that would hold the 2 twelves, turns out the box wasn't even caulked all the way around, its sealed by the way. I recaulked the whole thing and it sounds better now. Okay now that thats out of the way, time for the questions.1. Does this stuff suck?2. Im not sure how the subs are wired to the amp because i replaced the first amp i have with the memphis one and a local car audio place installed it. Its running on 2 channels. Is this the ideal set up?3. I am looking at making my own box. What design will make my system hit the hardest?4. It hits pretty hard and you can hear it when i drive down the street inside houses (even though thats not hard to do lol) but its not really hitting as hard as i want it to be. Do i just need to buy better stuff?5. How much better would a mono/1-channel/d-class amp be than the one i have?Im basically looking for any info i can get on the stuff i have and also building boxes and such. I have been looking at the site and its awesome! It has so much information. Thanks in advance,Drake Edited October 15, 200816 yr by juslivin
October 15, 200816 yr do you have the dual 2 or dual 4 ohm voice coils?Since it seems loudness is all you are going for, try a ported box tuned to 35 hz or so. It will be about twice as big as the box they are in now, though.

Do i just need to buy better stuff?I am not saying that hearing it inside of houses is a goal of mine i am just saying that it can be heard in houses and letting you guys know around how loud it is. Sorry for any confusion. Edited October 16, 200816 yr by juslivin
