Posted October 15, 200816 yr There's always IB for the sub or good 8s in the doors, both would be far more weight-efficient and have better sound if done properly, not to mention the 8s in the doors will add the weight even lower in respect to the center of gravity and more towards the middle of the car instead of the rear(assuming that your weight savings thus far have put you more towards a balanced weight distribution).I considered IB. It would be an ideal solution. Here are the problems. I can't use the doors, as I'm not willing to modify the stock speaker mounts relative to their depth. The rear deck would work if I could isolate it, but that would require sealing every hole in the sheetmetal, and I'm also not willing to do that, either. I wish the car was more better suited for IB, as that's what I'd definitely go with. Plus, IB can make for terrific SQ. So, a small box in the trunk is my only option. I really wish it weren't. It would solve a lot of problems.BTW, I spent way too much time designing an IB setup for my home sub - the one built into my house - and was made aware that if I wanted to stay married, that config was out of the question. :-(.I also considered having an enclosure built to fit the rear corner of the trunk and came across another problem, as it wouldn't fit (optimally) with the trunk cage installed, so that idea was out, too.But if you want to use 1/2" mdf go for it, you could have it built out of 1/4 or 1/8 if you want.<grin> I may be a pretentious, obnoxious nut, but I'm not crazy. lolFolks, I apologize for being less than receptive to your comments. Really.I posted some pics of the trunk, as well as a Photoshop rendering of the proposed enclosures:1. Given my constraints, I'd love to hear other ideas.2. Do you guys think that I'd be better-off with a front-firing setup, or a downfiring config, in terms of pure SQ? The downfiring idea would solve some problems for me, but if it's FAR less than optimal, I'll go in the other direction.Big thanks! Edited October 15, 200816 yr by Liger
