Posted October 19, 200816 yr hey guys, I'm plannig on running 1 Sundown Audio 3000 to either a 1 15" OR 1 18" FI BTL. What do I need to power this bad boy?? hah. I already did the research and I can get my hands on a 250amp h/o alt. Now the bad part is that im running this in A VW Golf so the space is minimal and going to be very tight for this build. I dont plan on doing competitions, its more for a daily car. Any idea what I need? I'm definately swapping out my primary battery (stock)...anything else?Cheers,Andrew
October 19, 200816 yr At least 2 batteries should be added on top of what you have up front. What's your engine size? Smaller engines work harder to drive these alternators and will suffer due to current draw. My truck actually slows down when the current demand is high. I'm running everything on a 4 cyl engine w/stock alt for now so its starved. Remember that the alt generates a significant resistance while generating that makes the engine work harder.
October 19, 200816 yr Author between the D3100 and the HC2400, theres not that much of a difference that i can see except one offers more amp hours and the other offers more amps..
October 20, 200816 yr amphours is what you needand the powermaster has what you need.Exactly. I have a sundown and it worked fine with just a d3100 in the back. I will have a red top in the front by the end this week to replace an old interstate battery
