The pioneer 880PRS / P80RS has an internal amplifier that can be be turned on and off as required.

1. Can the unit be used in network mode and still use the internal amplifier to output to the front and rear channels?

2. if the channels are still powered in network mode, do they have filtering on them? and can front/rear balance still be controlled from the headunit?

    Yes in network mode the amplifier works, but will follow the crossover settings that are on your rca's. No you won't have rear fade (there isn't any fade in network mode, but balance for each of the channels)
