I was thinking of tuning a 15" BL at 32-36 hz when I told my buddy he said I have it completely wrong. He told me that the tuning is way too low, and that hes going to be tuning his new box to around 50 hz. He told me simply because music is higher than the 32-36 range, and that I should be tuning in the 40's.

Could someone explain this to me, thanks.

His way will result in a box that will peak much higher, and sound very exaggerated with a significant loss in the low end.

50 is almost midbass

i like 28-32Hz...35 to me seems high

50 is just nasty, go with <34 and you will be happy :)

Depends on his goals, <34 will not be the loudest but until we know what he is looking for we can't make that recommendation.

One thing is for sure, 50hz is retarded. In what I would personally call a good setup the sub will be crossed over at less than 50hz. :ehh:

LOL... no beating around the bush there.

50 hz IS retarded unless it's a strictly SPL competition box/vehicle. you will not like it on regular music every day. stick with 32 or so.
