so within this next week i plan on getting an Fi Q 18 with the BP. Itll be powered by my elemental design nine.1 (and from reading through these forums, noone seems to like ED, but this is the amp im sticking to) and im guna be wiring the sub down to 1ohm.

my enclosure is going to be in the ballpark of 4.5 cubes in my '01 extended cab ranger...but this time i want to go ported, and this WILL be my first ported box (and my 4th setup period)

i want to do aero ports, but im still having a hard time trying to figure out how to get port dimensions and etc.

and idk what to really tune it to either....i guess around 30hz or so

and if it helps, i listen to rap (and country, but thats not what im focusing on lol) and i wanna hit some nice db's....not like im ever gunna get it metered, but i want to experience air pushing some body panels..

i used to have a sealed 19ov.2 and that thing HIT, and the 2 15" diamond d3's dont.....so i really want something that wont dissapoint me this time, and worse comes to worse, i can always plug the port if i dont like it...but i wanna try.

so i guess my question is, can you guys figure out what sized port i need and how long.

thanks a ton for helpin a newb to this forum out

4.5 ft^3 is not enough for a 18 ported. why don't you consider a 15 instead?

Q 15 – We recommend using a sealed box in the neighborhood of 2-2.6 cubic feet of volume (after all displacements for those wondering).

Ported box we recommend using 2.8-4 cubic feet @ 28-33Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume.

Q 18 – We recommend using a sealed box in the neighborhood of 4-8 cubic feet of volume.

Ported box we recommend using 6-10 cubic feet @ 28hz tuning, you can tune a little higher if you wish but we recommend keeping it under 32hz. Again the same 12-16 square inches of volume applies per cubic foot of volume.

I had one in 5.75 net sealed before and liked it. Now i'm in 7.0 ported. 4.5 would only work in sealed, and is that net or gross volume?
