Posted November 26, 200816 yr So, last night I was cleaning up my amp and re-wiring some stuff and fried my amp. Done for. Hifonics Bxi 1206d. Today I finally get my FI btl 12 fully loaded ! YES. I am putting it in it's custom box and i slipped while drilling it in and drill right though the rubber surrounding dust cap. I am very very very very very pissed.Does anyone have any solutions? i believe you can replace just the dustcap right? Also if anyone wants to sell a saz 1500/3000 let me know.Thanks/.
November 26, 200816 yr did you go through the surround or dustcap or both. dustcap can be replaced just becareful taking off the old one. as far as amps look in the forsale section or db-r.com
November 26, 200816 yr as long as its not a huge hole shouldnt be a problem. you can also put a flexible glue or sealent on it if you like.
December 4, 200816 yr Did the same thing yesterday with my SSD...I didn't see the screw in the hole already, so I tried drilling a screw anyways; then got frustrated it wasnt going in so I started pushing harder and next thing I know...my Makita is stuck in the surround.
December 4, 200816 yr that's why I never use an electric drill to put screws in around my sub. Hand cranking works just as well and is much safer. I put my hand on the inside of the screw to stop any slips, but I crank slow and deliberately so I've never even slipped anyways. As for the amp, let me guess- you touched a live power wire to the casing of the amp? That's why you ALWAYS take the fuse out of the power wire next to the battery.
December 4, 200816 yr i like to put my hand next to the drill bit/around the screw. rather have a hole in my hand then in the surround haha
