Posted December 1, 200816 yr Admin Gonna start the build log for this customer i'm building a box for. Here's the specs we are going for in this box.Internal Volume: 13.006 ft^3Port Area: 232.5 in^2Port Tune: 31.23 hertz With the max dimensions the customer wants to use, we're looking at 2.16ft^3/sub before actuall speaker displacement. This should work out right around spec to these subs.Sub up, Port back design, pretty straight forward. It's gonna be big. lolCurrently the customer had a local shop (audio express, home of the $1 dollar wire fire) build him a box. They gave him three seperate boxes, two per box, with some really nasty tuning and build quality was horrible. I'm trying to remedy this. I'll post pics up as soon as I get a few. Stay tuned.
December 1, 200816 yr Author Admin got the top baffle glued on and holes cut out, thats all i'm doing tonight.
December 1, 200816 yr Author Admin working on some braces. today, then install them later tonight along with the port sheet..
December 2, 200816 yr looking good, should put down some pretty nice numbers with those subs. they rarely disappoint for the $$$
December 2, 200816 yr Coming along nice, those are some really smooth cuts there. And that box is huge, I could pretty much live in there. lol
December 2, 200816 yr Author Admin getting the bracing on tonight, and hopefully finishing it tonight as well. Drying over night, then it's carpet time
December 2, 200816 yr Author Admin looks like someone needs 6 icons.I know! I conveniently built the box to just drop in ICON's at a later date
December 2, 200816 yr looks like someone needs 6 icons.I know! I conveniently built the box to just drop in ICON's at a later date slick lolare those 12"s
December 2, 200816 yr Author Admin you can only see the top corner of the front of it, so I didn't see any reason to waste carpet on the rest of the box, plus this thing is huge!
December 3, 200816 yr Author Admin Here's a pic of the old set up, three seperate boxes, with some issues, build quality wasn't the greatest and the carpet job up close is horrible. Anyways, they charged him $350 for all those boxes, and my DCON's were almost as loud, and sounded much much better
December 3, 200816 yr u could atleast add some carpet there ...and i see that there r 2 new models of Rs (do they sound different from the other four )..BTW ..nice job
December 3, 200816 yr Author Admin WILL IT BE THERE TOMARROW IF IT IS I WILL CHECK IT OUT FOR SURE Nope he's 40 Miles away.hows it bang now.Waaaay Louder. He was dancing he was so happy with it.u could atleast add some carpet there ...and i see that there r 2 new models of Rs (do they sound different from the other four )..BTW ..nice job wasn't a real big issue, that is no mans land back there. No one sees it.
December 3, 200816 yr Author Admin Nice job!.. :bigclap: Should put up some some decent numbers!maybe after he switches out those subs for D2's and gets rated power out of those amps. Right now each amp is seeing a total ohm load of 2.67. Rated power is at 1ohm, so these subs are only seeing about half the power those amps have.
