Its different in every car, some people score higher on the meter with sub and port facing into the cabin.

It could be louder to the ear

He was just saying what a lot of people think. He didn't say thats the way he should do it, he just said thats the way most people do it.

I can almost guarantee that sub and port in the cabin with the trunk sealed will be louder on a meter than to your ear. Depending of course on tuning, but most of the time it is similar to that. Loud to a meter is different than loud to your ears ;)

^ wow guys, lmao

I just want it to be louder to the ear because I'm not going to be competing or anything.

I'm sure I'll test it both ways and see what is louder to the ear.

Thinking about building a new box and testing it.

Tell me what you guys think.

The port is on the front face of the box at the bottom, sub facing up here is a really rough design.

I could get 4 cubes easy with this style of box and that's what I'm looking for.

58 square inches of port @ 32-33hz.

Bumpidy bump

^any opinions on the box design up there?

I could get 4 cuft instead of 3.5 with that design.

that design sounds good to me...

but i would suggest you try your original box first(just to see if you like it)

in personal experience... i have noticed that sub up and port back does not sound as loud as sub and port back... or meter any better

I was aware but my trunk isn't tall enough to do sub and port back.

:/

Well my 15 finally got here today!

Not gonna lie even though its a SSD it still has a beastly rear end in my eyes.

I messed around and free aired it on about 75 watts on some test tones, it was moving good!

I just can't wait to put some real power on it!

Put it in!!!

I'm waiting on the amp!!

I finally got it in the box, and I temporarily hooked it up to my receiver in my room and all I can say is dayummmmmm.

Before I had 2 12's on 2 channels and they sounded decent but when I put the 15 on there OMG it rattled pictures off the walls with only 75 watts!

My friend that helped me build the box heard it and said if that's only 75 then if you put 800 on it you won't be able to sit in the car.

:wacky:

I can't let the sub get anywhere near the power it needs with my receiver though.

:(

Basically the SSD is exactly what I wanted!!!!!!

Thank you Fi!!!!!!

Seems like this build is extremely slow compared to others here, but hey I'm just piecing things together a little at a time.

Got the amp here.
