I really want a 18, extremely bad but I have been lead away from it due to trunk space.

My question is, if I put a SSD 18 in a 5.5 cuft box how would it sound compared to a SSD 15 in a 3cuft box.

I wouldn't have a problem fitting the 15 in but the 18 would be a snug fit, but its much more appealing.

id say go with the 15, with an optimum enclosure for it. since you wont have enough space for the recommended enclosure for an 18

Sealed, right?

5.5 ported

net volume, and with or without port displacment?

sq inches of port?

Around 75-80 square inches of port, tuned at 31-32hz

13-14 square inches of port per cube.

i would like to hear some opinions as well, im working with about 7 after port/displacement for an 18" (12^2 inches per foot of port)

or optimal for a 15" (16^2 per foot of port)

help!!!! i really dont knowww!!!

Well the only reason I ask is because Fi doesn't recommend going under 6 cubes for the 18" SSD.

But going 5.5 cubes and giving it enough port area shouldn't hurt it.

It will give you a more peaky response in that small of an enclosure, even if you tune low. If you go ahead with it, definitely add polyfill to the enclosure to help it out.
