Posted December 7, 200816 yr i am kind of a newbie and i was think of getting an 18 ssd fully load with a 1800 watt kenwood amp wired to 1 ohm @ roughly 1000 watts RMS. in a 6 cu. Ft. box tuned to 26 hz. do you think it would be louder then 3 cheap 12's
December 7, 200816 yr Admin very debatable i'm sure, but if your box/install is correct, I would go with quality over quantity any day.
December 7, 200816 yr pushin 1k watts i would probably go with either the Q or BL over the SSD though.
December 8, 200816 yr The 18" SSD would be fine if you get it fully loaded. I'd tune quite a bit higher than 26hz though..
December 8, 200816 yr sounds like he listed 1800 peak. probably the kac 910d or what ever the 900rms amp is. its not a bad amp, my bro has one on a 15 l7. id run it at 2 ohms... unless your completely sure it will run at 1ohm...
December 8, 200816 yr He is probably talking about this one.But idk about 1ohm, no site selling it has specs for 1ohm, just 900rms @2ohm
December 8, 200816 yr depends on install is my honest opinion. buddys 3 eclipse Ti 12s don't hit or sound as good as my single 15 Bl and they should should better in all honesty.
December 9, 200816 yr Author yes i am talking about the KAC-9104D here are the specs from kenwood.com
December 9, 200816 yr i doubt it can do rated power maybe like 800w. and with 6cu to work with an 18 is a little big id look into two decent 12's in 4 cu
December 9, 200816 yr i'd think the 18 would do better, but i'm a lil biased get it in a big efficient box with losso port to compensate for the low power and i think it will do better. roughly the same cone so thats close, the deciding factor is space. if you can build 6-7cuft net then go 15 but if you have 4-5cuf to work with then go 12s-Drew
December 9, 200816 yr Author well i found a different amp. do you guys think this would push around 1000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm?MA Audio HK1998 1200 Watt 1 Channel Amplifier 1 X 500W RMS @ 4-ohm Mono 1 X 600W RMS @ 2-ohm mono 1 X 1200W RMS @ 1-ohm Mono Thermal, Short & Overload Protection Circuitry Platinum Plated Screw Type RCA Jacks Double Sided Black Epoxy PCB Board Variable High Pass & Low Pass Filters Platinum Plated Block Terminals Fully Regulated Power Supply Stainless Steel Finish Heat sink 0-18dB Variable Bass Boost Quiet Fan Cooling System Full Mosfet Circuitry 2 Ohm Stereo Stable THD: <0.05% Signal to Noise: >90dB Edited December 9, 200816 yr by burbank bass crew
December 9, 200816 yr or a refurb sundown 1000D, comes with a 1 year warranty from db-r.http://www.db-r.com/sell/store/index.php?productID=147
December 10, 200816 yr The Kenwood amp is not stable at 1 ohm...Its capable, but it is not stable. You can put it at two ohms and get roughly 900 rms at of it but it works as long as your not going for SQ, a different amp is suggested
