Posted December 19, 200816 yr So how about it Mach 5? Why not take the current IXL motor structure from the 10 and 12 and use it to make an 8 inch version? I think it would be awesome and if priced as the IXL 10 and 12 they would be very competitive... I'd order a few, with the same motor as the 10 it would be one very very beefy sub :bigclap: It seems these days more and more are looking to drivers in a smaller size which can be seen in Soundsplinters sucess with their 8. Mach 5 should cptialise on this market Anyway... PLEASE
December 19, 200816 yr You would probably have to do a split-baffle because it looks like the magnet has a bigger diameter than 8"...
December 19, 200816 yr Author Really? I would have thought it would be slightly smaller...Just looked at Mach 5's web sight and i think the magnet is smaller than 8, maybe 7 1/2I guess if its too hard its too hard but i would love to see an IXL 8 Edited December 19, 200816 yr by Samuel
December 19, 200816 yr I dont know the actual dimensions, maybe it is 7.5, I thought it looked bigger from looking at a picture, and only a 1/2" off... haha Im good.It does sound like a killer idea though...I like the way IXLs sound.

It will be interesting to see how the SSA 8 turns out and at what price, also if the soundsplinter 8's re appear on the market but if Mach 5 could produce an IXL 8 and sell it for $165 i think they would be onto a winner just as the IXL 18 has been a winner for the Home Theater crowd
December 19, 200816 yr Author You seen the RE 8?Not in Australia... Mach 5 has an awesome Australian distributer and it seems to me considering how good the 10 is an 8 could be an awesome sub at an awesome priceIm sure the RE is a good sub but i havn't seen many around the net, they dont seem that popular when compaired with the RLi 8
December 19, 200816 yr I would love a few myself!!great power handling, great sounding, pure SEX.Great idea if at all possible
December 19, 200816 yr Author I would love a few myself!!great power handling, great sounding, pure SEX.Great idea if at all possibleThat was exactly my thinking... Me need some Mach 5 input in this thread becasue id love to know if it can be done and under what conditions (ie a minimum buy?)
December 25, 200816 yr Mark had a go at a 8" driver that I am not quite sure where it would have fit into his line up.We did some testing on it and were not pleased with the results we came up with. I dont know if mark has any further intension about this project. But IMO I dont think its neccissary as anyone after 8's could pottentially step up to the IXL 10 for their applications as it is a small box driver. And lets keep in mind guys, Mach 5's capital expenditure is tied up in product.
