Posted December 25, 200816 yr Probably a stupid question but I'm wondering how I would go about hooking up my 15" SSD to my home stereo receiver.I think its a 100 watt per channel receiver @ 4 or 8 ohms.Just wondering if there is any way to do this or is it just stupid.
December 25, 200816 yr Author Here is my receiver, its what has been fueling my audio passion for the past 4 years I got it when I was 12.Along with 2 12" KLH floor speakers with mids and tweeters, and 2 KLH bookshelf speakers.I cant count how many times I have clipped the hell out of this receiver and sent it into protect mode when I was little, lolclickAnd my ssd is D1.
December 25, 200816 yr Get a plate amp and hook that up to the receiver, that's how I hooked up my subs to my home stereo. They have a 300watt one going for like $120 I think on partsexpress.com
December 25, 200816 yr Author Woah its not going on my room receiver permanently I was just gonna hook it up to test it out and make sure everything works.

December 25, 200816 yr Author Alright, thanks for the help. Its gonna rattle my house like crazy at least until I get it in my car and its still going to rattle my house, my 12's are extremely chitty and they manage to rattle my doorknob.edit: ah that explains it, but the sub won't be seeing a 2ohm load will it? December 25, 200816 yr Alright, thanks for the help. Its gonna rattle my house like crazy, my 12's are extremely chitty and they manage to rattle my doorknob.yeah it is that btl knocked pictures off the walls... and i never even sent the reciever into protect
December 25, 200816 yr DO NOT run your receiver at a lower ohm load than it's rated at. I wouldn't hook it directly up to your receiver unless it can be wired to an 8 ohm load. (assuming that's what your receiver is rated for.)
December 25, 200816 yr If you have a D2 woofer you can wire it up in series to present a 4 ohm load. I just reread your first post.
December 25, 200816 yr Author Mine is D1.So I'll destroy my receiver if I do it? Edited December 25, 200816 yr by ShaneSauce
December 25, 200816 yr if your not careful you could. but which is it 4ohm's or 8 ohm's on your receiver
December 25, 200816 yr Author It usually gets hot after about 1 hour of playing really loud.I'll just watch it really closely.
