Posted January 28, 200916 yr so my dads cars alt went out, he bought a new one but it doesnt seem to fit it and now we have a spare brand new alt laying around and he said could have it. its only a 105 amp alt so i dont really want to replace it with my 120 amp alt but maybe someone rig it in with my stock one, would it like having a 225 amp alt? or would it not be worth my time to rig something to install it into my blazer
January 28, 200916 yr Author yeah but ifi make something for mine to mount to i think that i would be able to hold it on or do you mean beacuse they wont spin right
January 28, 200916 yr yeah but ifi make something for mine to mount to i think that i would be able to hold it on or do you mean beacuse they wont spin right the wiring.... if you can make a bracket you canrun a second alt.... but not all alts are the same... is it a 1 wire alt?

January 28, 200916 yr i really dont know anything about them i was going to have my dads friend help me with it and i plan on doing the big 3 so would i just be able to replace all of the wire well you need to read about alts... even when doing the big three you dont replace all the wires... some alts area multi wire.. 1-3 wires PLUS the output...
January 28, 200916 yr Author http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...#ht_1735wt_1197that the alt that my dad bought is it worth putting in with my original alt Edited January 28, 200916 yr by stuartgoodenough
January 28, 200916 yr if you can get the alt to work with the regulator and all the other electrical crap down there, it will essentially add amperage backup to your overall system. there are many people who run stock alts with added on HO alts dedicated to just their system, but like jon said, you have to check compatibility with your existing electrical.
January 28, 200916 yr chit, its a $30 alt? i dunno if i would take the risk of fabricating all that bracketry up just to have it crap out, or not even put out 30 amps...
January 28, 200916 yr Author yeagh but it was free and i was wondering if it would be worth doing it or would it be a waist of time
