Posted January 31, 200916 yr Am using a US Amp MD.3D amp. I got a HO alternator from Nations that push out around 140 Amps at idle and 230 Amps max output. I also have a 2 Farad cap and a battery that is 1000 cranking amps (CA)and 850 CCA. Will this be enough to run this amp without it going into PROTECT mode or shutting off due to the lack of "juice"? What is the "BIG 3"? Edited January 31, 200916 yr by wof131s
January 31, 200916 yr You should have enough power to run that with no problem but I would not use the cap if I were you. Every test I tried using a cap it hurt more than it helped.
January 31, 200916 yr Author So your saying that my alternator and battery is enough to run that amp?
January 31, 200916 yr Yeah it should be for now but i would take the cap off and invest in another battery when you can.
January 31, 200916 yr The Big 3 has been discussed before. It's a wiring upgrade under the hood. Battery negative to bodyBattery positive to alternator Engine to body or to battery negative. Use 1/0 and fuse the positive run from the alternator to the battery.
