i was just doing an install for a kid and he asked me why i had run the power down one side and the signal leads down the other because it was a waste of time and the proper way was power and rcas on the same side... he insisted on me switching it for like 3 hours on top of him already repetedly telling me that his stock ground was by far good enough and i didnt have to worry about it....by the end of that install i just took my money and looked straight at him laughed and walked to my car

He was wrong on the stock ground being good enough, but you were wrong about everything else.

Running power and signal away from each other is a myth. If your connections are shitty, expect noise. if you do them the correct way, you'll be just fine.

I can't even begin to count the amount of times I've done this.

John I'll admit that once upon a time I thought that was true...

I remember hearing this way back in like 1992 or some chit.

but what if companies get it wrong? ....my previous amp opti 2000D had a 4 guage power terminals. The amp did good power but needless to say I had those cables pretty black and smelly at the tips

o dont forget that my sony 10" hit 210 DB's in a sealed box

I've had people tell me they hit something crazy and swear on it. "Yo holmes I hit like 6,334 db with my 6 Jensen 12's and my Turbo amps at negative .154 ohms.) I really want to bet these people and pillage them of their money but that would be like robbing kids or something-just can't do it. I've heard alot in 20 years of audio and if I can find it, I have a photo album of the worst and ugliest installs I have come across. I'll put that up.

i once read a thread titled "Q vs.Havoc --> Help Me Decide!!" while a thread named "Q vs. Havoc Review" was right underneath it...

Oops, a small oversight on my part. Thanks for getting it to the right place.

tried to use this excuse with an ex girlfriend, she wasn't buying it though.

No my fav has to be people with 2 sealed 12's in a trunk off 500 watts*, who think cause its sony or jl its gonna be louder than 4 ssa iCON's and 3kw.

They were the best. I'd listen and act kinda impressed and they would talk their shit, then BAM ssa kicked that ass.

whatever the F that means.

What? You guys don't cushion your lows? I like to put my boxes on tempur pedic mattress pads. Makes those lows extra comfy.

its gettin even better now.. read the message he just sent me:

"Such little cone area really, cone area of subs are 24" in total, cone area of 3-ways is 32" such little cone area hay, if I spent what you spent on your system I would blow you away like a leaf lmao."

i had another guy once tell me 2 8's are better than a 15 because having 2 8's is like havin 1 16.

I had a guy at work today show me his "slammin' system" as he called it. He had 2 Kicker 04sx500.2's running 2 old school Kicker competition 12's AND 2 of the same 15's, and a crappily overdone front stage. All in an old Subaru 4 door thing in a ghetto-ass installation. It sounded like CHIT! He tried to tell me the 12's were like rear mids.

It made my head hurt. Not the system, the owner. "Here's your sign."
