February 9, 200916 yr its the voltage that comes out through the RCAs and goes to your amps. the higher your pre amp voltage, the less you have to turn your gain up. an advantage is with gettin to leave the gain lower, there is less noise amplification too. like engine whine. February 14, 200916 yr Author i just purchased the eclipse cd7200 witch has 3 8 volt pre amp outputsthe only downfall is no internal amplifier but if your running amps on your speakers this unit is golden
