Posted February 9, 200916 yr OK i need to run through and make a check with yall to see if my demisions are rgith for this box and its ports okthe box has 4.6 cuft and it will have 2 re sx 12's each displaces .16 cuft and a port that displaces .24 cuft so total displacement = .56cuft which gives the box roughly 4 cuft so i have the port 15w2H14L = 33hzdoes this sound ok
February 9, 200916 yr you're right on the tuning... not enough port area IMO...I'd say you need 50-60"^2 of port area...if you make the port 3" wide it takes your length to 22gives you 45 in^2
February 9, 200916 yr well again IMOYou'll have quite a bit of port turbulence with such a small port..My single SE had terrible port noise with 25in^port so with you having only 30 and twice the surface area...... **I think just about anyone will suggest that you run atleast 50-60in^2
February 10, 200916 yr Try this: Port CalculatorYou'll need to know the XMax of those SX's, and your intended tuning frequency. From there, it's simple math.
February 10, 200916 yr wow that port calculator, while nice, is very liberal. It said I would have needed 80 sq. inches for my 15" SI D2. I built my box with about 45 and it was fine.
February 11, 200916 yr Better to have a bit more cross-sectional area for your port than not enough.... I'd reasonably say that 70-80% of what they recommend is probably adequate. So, for your 15" SI D2... that'd be 56-64 sq in of port. If 45 sq in worked for you, kudos to ya.
