Posted February 14, 200916 yr I'm wondering what most people use for a good quality front stage. The amp I'm currently using is a TMA T320.4 (JL company). It does the following:60W x 4 @ 4 ohm80W x 4 @ 2 ohm160W x 2 @ 4ohm (bridged)Speakers used in conjunction with: 6.5" CDT Audio ES-620, rated for 150W @ 4ohmI just picked up a SAZ-1000D and a 12" Fi Q and these will be running together. This leaves the TMA to run my front stage solely. I'm worried about bridging the amp because its a pretty cheap amp, and I figure it'll be toast within a year or so if I bridge (if that). Also, the power isn't terribly clean as its a cheap brand amp, though the quality is good (I'm running 60W x 4 out of just 2 channels, non-bridged).So the question is, for 150W each channel, what kind of amp would you suggest? I'll be running 4awg wiring through a distribution into both amps.
February 14, 200916 yr Sundown Audio SAX-100.4. No-brainer.Hes asking for 150 rms per channelIt does very close to 150.The 100.4 also gets my vote.
February 14, 200916 yr @ 4 ohms? I didn't realize it was that underrated.About 125 at 4 ohms. You will not tell the difference in 25 watts.
February 15, 200916 yr Author I was looking at the SAX-125.2 SAX-125.2 at SSA ShopI saw the SAX-100.4 but I had a couple problems with it. 1) It only does 100W @ 4ohm. 2) Bridged, it does 320W x 2 @4ohm. There is just no need for this much power for my speakers. It's also $150 more expensive than the SAX-125.2, and for what I'm using it for, I figure the SAX-125.2 will be more than enough power. I understand these Sundowns are usually under rated, so I'm thinking I could get 135-140W out of each channel. Does anyone have experience with the SAX-125.2? And thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate the feedback. Edited February 15, 200916 yr by beyondlogix

It seems that the consensus is for the SAX-100.4. This is a little over budget, but I will definitely consider it. Does any one at all recommend the SAX-125.2?
February 15, 200916 yr We will all say to go with Sundown, the 125.2 is a fantastic amp, but it's nice to have some flexibility and overhead.

February 15, 200916 yr The 100.4 will allow you to eventually go active if you want to. It has a very impressive on board crossover.

February 15, 200916 yr I wouldn't hesitate to own a db-r refurb, actually, I do own one... Do you plan on getting rid of your TMA amp?
February 15, 200916 yr Author I wouldn't hesitate to own a db-r refurb, actually, I do own one... Do you plan on getting rid of your TMA amp?Yup. TMA T320.4, and the sub, TMA T12S4P (12" Single Voice Coil). Along with 8awg wiring, no need for that anymore. Edited February 15, 200916 yr by beyondlogix
