Posted February 15, 200916 yr I have a set of old set of 5 1/4 mb quarts and would like to use the tweeter and crossover with mli65but will the crossover be too high for the mli6.6? (will the crossover take too much mid/bass out?)what do you guys think?
February 15, 200916 yr Passive cross overs are made with a specific woofer in mind. You can't use them with equally the same results on a different woofer.Best option for you would be to learn how to make a specific passive crossover for them. Or run your front stage active.
February 15, 200916 yr the mli65 can be run full range but imo I would runs an active setup with a 4ch amp and a crossover
February 16, 200916 yr If you do not know cross over points and power ratings it is a lot easier to go active. I tested mine full rang and they sounded good. Just be sure not to over power them in a full range set up.
February 16, 200916 yr Just How Much Of A Royal Pain In The Ass Is It To Go Active With 8 Of These, Or Find A Way To Put A Crossover At 4KHz On Them?
February 17, 200916 yr Generally passive crossovers that come in the sets don't have a highpass filter for the mid. They only have a highpass for the tweeter and a lowpass for the mid. So it shouldn't cut any bass out.
