My friend has an 07 GTI and is thinking of running an AQ 2200D to two Fi Q's. My question is, will this amp be happy powered by the stock alt (120 amp). He doesn't really want to run an extra battery unless absolutely necessary.

All suggestions and advice is appreciated.

Put the biggest battery under the hood that he can fit and do the big3. Test it out, if it still drops voltage is he probably going to have to add another battery. Even just a small powermaster or kitentic would probably suffice.

2000+ watts is alot to ask of your stock charging system. You'll probably need another battery at least.

I imagine you'll want another battery. But as abxx said, may as well test it out first.

Ya, if it were me I would definately do another battery in the back. I don't think he really cares if he gets another one, he was just trying to avoid that route.

If it was me i would upgrade the alt and big three and throw the biggest battery you can under the hood.
