Posted March 10, 200916 yr I current have a stock battery up front, and a batcap 2000 in the back near the amps. my question is, would there be any problems mixing battery brands? was looking at a kinetik 1400 to put up front.. would it make a difference? I would assume not considering the stock battery i have up front (wet cell) runs fine with the batcap in the back minus the voltage drops. I need to figure out a way to stabilize these voltage drops. Thanks guys!
March 10, 200916 yr Author Have you done the big3 yet? It may be a cheap solution to your problems.Indeed. Big 3 complete, 90 amp alt. running a sundown 1500 on 2 kicker cvxs. batcap 2000 in the back. both batteries rest at about 12.8 volts. at full tilt the lowest voltage I have seen is 11.8 v. on most songs the voltage stays between 12-12.6. I have a 96 dodge neon. Right now I have both of my amps grounded to the battery, and the battery grounded in the trunk. I just ordered some knu wire that should be in monday. going to run a dedicated ground from the back to the front battery to strengthen the ground.. maybe that resolves my problem (hopefully) with voltage stability. not real sure what to do from that point on. I would obviously like to stay > 13 volts. i was thinking of a solid battery up front and maybe a batcap 400 in the back parallel to the 2000.
March 10, 200916 yr If that doesn't help, maybe you should look into a new starting battery. Something like a Deka, Powermaster, Kinetic, Optima.
March 10, 200916 yr Author If that doesn't help, maybe you should look into a new starting battery. Something like a Deka, Powermaster, Kinetic, Optima.right which leads me to my question. would say a kinetik 1400 be ok ran parallel with a batcap 2000? it will not effect it's performance... right?
March 10, 200916 yr As long as they are running at the same voltage I see NO reason why there would be any problem. Maybe someone else here will say something different though..
March 10, 200916 yr Your already mixing you batcap with your starting battery, I don't think adding another would hurt anything (same voltage of course).
