Posted March 18, 200916 yr I just ordered two Fi Q 15"s and i'm taking the 2 15"kicker cvx's out!My amp is the memphis 2500 or (Mojo) my car is a 97 honda civic...ok to the point will the Fi's be louder than the Cvx's in a big sealed box...ported is not really an option for me cause i'm leaning more towards a flatter response on low end and more towards sq!! but will the Q's still be louder than the Cvx's??? the box is 2.4 cub.ft per chamber!I know that your input on loud would be a ported box....but sealed which will be Louder??Thank you
March 18, 200916 yr Author why dont you use one of each...hahah im kidding dont do that.HA HA very funny ass hole...you should be a comedian fudge head!
March 18, 200916 yr how would you compare kicker to fi anyways? are cvx's sq subs? nahh is the q... yes...
March 18, 200916 yr Author The Q's will get louder and sound nicer. SQ is subjective after all.....thank you..that's all i wanted to know! apparently the other guy has a hard time answering people's questions?
March 18, 200916 yr Let me add that it is ALL going to be box dependent. Build a nice one, don't skimp here.
March 18, 200916 yr I am thinking you will really like the Fi's. The SQ should be pretty pleasing in the proper enclosure. As for compareing the two for loudness, that is going to be basied on install.
March 19, 200916 yr if your compairing FI's to a kicker you should read up on the subs you just purchased. as for giving you good criticism you made a smart choice by getting FI's. dont skip on the box. just hope you have the right amp thats where people really go wrong.

March 19, 200916 yr you really shouldent use any bass boost.and im serious this time. Edited March 19, 200916 yr by BoomBoxB
March 19, 200916 yr I'm not being a smart ass, but did you read the setting gains on your amp sticky? Using bass boost is a way to destroy your subs quickly.
March 20, 200916 yr honestly its all install dependant! im sure if you put the cvx's in a great box and the q's in a chitty box the cvx's would dominate the q's and vice versa. but being fair and comparing the 2 i would say the q's are better but the cvx isn't a slouch good overall sub. spl will probally be close to same but sq should go to the q's but sq is totally subjective so....?
March 20, 200916 yr I used bass boost and didnt have a problem. What I did was set my amp's gain with the bassboost up all the way so that the 1000wrms was the max it would see and not send a choppy signal. I had the bassboost down for driving and up for comps.

I had the bassboost down for driving and up for comps. That makes NO SENSE.People it is VERY simple. When you eq you should always, always, always cut not boost.

March 20, 200916 yr You shouldn't ever use bass boost.most of the time but not always. ive had the gain maxed and had to turn the bass boost up to get full output due to a very weak signal source mp3 player. once i switched the source to a better one bass boost was dropped to 0 and gain lowered to 1/3 to get same output. most signal sources now though wont require any bass boost and wont need to max gains to reach full power.
March 20, 200916 yr what if you keep bass boost all the way up on the amp but on the HU i have it the lowest it goes which is -6 which it goes (6 to -6). is that fine. I just dont want bass going to my 6.5"since there only running off my HU and itll only cause distortion. Edited March 20, 200916 yr by ADK
March 20, 200916 yr I guess i'll be the first to say this since after 21 posts, i still don't see this posted-You can't ask the question which will be louder by doing a direct sub swap and nothing else. that's an almost impossible question to answer.Secondly, yes the Fi Qs are their SQ sub line but CVXs aren't bad subs either. You keep wanting SQ and LouD... Everybody wants good SQ but loud for their money... who doesn't?You broke me when you said that you used bass boost.HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET A FLAT RESPONSE WHEN USING BASS BOOST?You might as well pull the sealed box(es) out of your ride and build a nice ported box tuned to 32hz for example and have someone else set your amp up right because it isn't setup correctly right now and you will definitely love it over what you have now.Basically, you have a setup that is designed for your tastes to have good control and "suppose" to have a good smooth range in spl to your ear but you have bass boost engaged which is centering a boost at a certain range so it just throws the whole flat response out the window. So basically, you DO want a ported box.Go back over what i just said because this is what you have told us and i just explained what i means so re-evaluate your goal seriously because i think you want ported and just don't know it or are trying to tell yourself you don't wnat it because you have either never had ported or a bad experience or are afraid because you may think ported is just a devastating peaky, boomy box.... If you think the last option i said... that's bandpass... not ported, (bandpassed designs are not a good choice for music clarity.)The bandpass design i am thinking on doing in my sig is kinda complicated.... Not the same BP i am referring to if wondering.
