I found a rf 6.5 component set (T162s) on ebay, and im wondering if they will fit in my 1990 Town Car. The stocks were 6x8s. thanks

you will need adapter plates.... get the plastic ones. they work better.

i would dampen the doors too while i have the pannels off the first time.

I new i could count on you to answer my question! were could i get the plates from?

and when you take the door pannel off the 5x7 will be in a plastic spacer off aswell.. take it in the house then work on it on a table some where...

you will need to bottom mount those 6.5s in the adapter plate useing very small screws that you will need to buy...

then mount the adapter plate with the 6.5 in it to the lincoln factory spacer.. then calk or RTV the gap that you will have from bottom mounting that 6.5 to start will

I would also. Use some spare MDF and make your own rings.

there is not alot of room.. thats why i say use the plastic... i tryed many wood ones.

You really need some mass and stiffness though. I'd cut metal, hack the doors, or do whatever it takes to put something substantial in for a baffle.

Those plastic plate adapters aren't the best solution. I have cut masonite for baffles and that worked okay. I might be putting some 6.5" Kodas in my 97 Towncar And i might cut some baffles and dynamat over them.

Masonite may not be the best solution but I'd recommend it over the plastic plate adapters.

Thanks for all of the info guys! i'll probably use plastic plates for a little while until i can build some wood or masonite ones, (it seems a little hard for my woodworking abilities.) lol
