So to get any decent volume out of my new sub, i have to have the gain on my new amp really high.....too high and the bass boost up pretty far too.

I know the RCAs arent the best, and its a sony HU.....but still, any ideas?

woops....its an Audioque 1200D and the sub is a SDC2.5

*edit: i have it wired to 2 ohms....i've checked like three tiems...

wow, where to start.

Put another amp in there and see if its any different. If another amp is a lot better, then it's not the HU or wires.

If its not any better, check the following-

sub out on HU is set to maximum output.

check voltage at amp terminals(this will also verify good ground as well)

check your filter settings on your amp.

Check to see if u got the rcas plugged into the correct output on the HU.

since it's an AQ amp, MAKE SURE THE REMOTE GAIN IS SET TO MAX AND THE GAIN ON THE AMP IS SET AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.

After you have done this, slowly start to turn the gain up on the amp until it's set properly.

The remote control is a gain control, not bass boost.

ya i know its not a bass boost...that what tipped me off lol....whats this about the remote gain? i really think thats my problem....is it the ehternet looking cable that came with the amp?

I dont have it hooked up...should I? I mean i have nowhere to hook the other side to.....and i do have a sub vol on my HU, which i turned all the way up and that helped a little, but i just didn't have to do that with my last setup.

*edit: last setup was a T1 and an Excelon 2ch amp

if the remote gain is not hooked up then do not hook it up as there is still something else wrong

Ok i won't.

Quoting Shizzon here, parentheses are me:

sub out on HU is set to maximum output. (check)

check voltage at amp terminals(this will also verify good ground as well) (will do when it's NOT so late)

check your filter settings on your amp. (check)

Check to see if u got the rcas plugged into the correct output on the HU. (only on preamp out, so check)

rca's--> hu would be "out" and amp is "in" ? just checking you dont have them switched or something.
