Posted April 12, 200916 yr Well I have a 2005 Scion XA hatchback, will be running either a memphis MCD-1000 or a sundown SAE-1000d. I listen to metal, rap, and drum n bass mostly, and I am thinking that the 12" BL will be the sub for me. I am looking for loud and deep, with the ability to keep up with the drums in metal. I am just looking for advice as to whether or not this is a good sub choice, and should I go ported, and how should I tune it? Edited April 12, 200916 yr by tattooedkaos
April 13, 200916 yr i would go 15 Q sealed, get the loudness and keep SQ for your drums and suchNot for the type of music he listens too. 1 12" BL in a ported box tuned to 34hz is what he'll want.
April 13, 200916 yr Author That's around what I was thinking, I didn't want a 15". I prefer 12's, better for tight bass and stuff like metal in my opinion

April 13, 200916 yr Author I was also wondering what internal volume i should go with? I will be talking with pound that sound about a custom enclosure and subfloor for my xa, so that all you see is the port and the sub
April 13, 200916 yr Author well I wouldn't know that, hence the reason I ask for help, I'm new to doing chit right, and I am trying my best to learn and absorb all I can. I haven't gotten to experience much in the way of quality audio around here, so I was speaking from what people had told me and my limited experience Edited April 13, 200916 yr by tattooedkaos
April 13, 200916 yr Author I am sort of trying to stick with 1 12", for weight and ease of removal to get to my spare tire. But as time goes on I will definitely be considering all options, it will be a few months before I have the money to change from my 2 Elemental Designs 13ov2's in my sealed enclosure.I will know by tomorrow night what amp I will be working with, either a Memphis MCD-1000 or a Sundown SAE-1000d. I can't afford and am not willing to go with a much bigger amp, don't want to do a second battery, and only have a 160 amp H/0 alt Edited April 13, 200916 yr by tattooedkaos
