Well today my 5th generation ipod video decided it was going to take a chit. something involving the drive broke off and they want $150 to fix it. I have virtually no cds anymore so this is a very bad thing. I have a 16gb flash drive, and am looking for a Head Unit that has a usb connection so I can try to use this for music.

I have never owned one with a usb connection, and am trying to find a quality yet inexpensive H/U that will serve this purpose. Also wondering if JVC makes any H/U's worth buying that do this?

Jvc 600 $140 retail usb connection on the face. Everything from there on up has built in Ipod

is there anything by alpine or pioneer thats good? I am pretty much crap out of luck with my ipod, will probably get a zune in a few months. if i sell my old alpine 4 channel and my current panasonic i will come close to affording a used H/U with a usb connect, so I can use my flash drive for now

thanks for the suggestions so far, I have found a bunch of them, I like that pioneer a lot. how does it go as far as sound quality?

I used to always go with pioneer, I tried a panasonic, cant say I was much impressed, and I would like to try an alpine eventually.

I was wondering if anyone Knows of an affordable H/U that would read the mp3's off of my seagate portable usb hard drive?

Well I already asked around and found a few H/U's I like that have usb collections, such as Pioneer H/U

and I am wondering if anyone knows if these would work with a seagate free agent type of portable hard drive loaded with mp3's and the like, because if so that would be amazing and way better then my flash drive!

the clarion is a good unit, i ownt it but cant compare it to others, since i dont have experience with them, but id say it well worth it, and has the capability for 2 way active plus sub ( or 3 way and no sub).

I have found a few different USB capable H/U lines that I like, and have been weighing my options since my ipod failed. I was thinking that I would use my flash drive and just go that route originally. I do not like the idea of only being able to access 16gb of my 56gb of music at one time. I am now wondering if there are any H/U that anyone knows of that can read the mp3's off of a portable usb HD, seagate free agent go?

As always I appreciate the help and suggestions!
