whats up everybody im thinking about buying a 1990 impala to play around with and i was told that i would only have room for four 12' or two 15's. i really dont have a set budget yet but i dont want to pay a fortune for the subs and amp(s)

any suggestions?

heres a picture of what i will have to work with

no matter what, it's honestly going to depend on your budget and goals with the setup.

well my goals if to have something thats not a one note wonder more like a SQ or LOUD SOUND QUALITY setup and as for budget wise i really didnt think of one because i want to take my time and have everything done right but i would say 4k off the top of my head for subs and amps....this is what i wrote on another forum also.....

[i had the thought of jl because the dont require large amounts of space and i probably will be able to go with 4 13w6's in a fiberglassed box...i will not be able to go straight across be cause the trunk start to slant close to the back i think its like 14 inches high back there if im not mistaken i will post a pic of a similar idea if i can find one. any downsides to an enclosure like this? ]

So your total budget is $8k then?

$4k for subs and $4k for the front? Considering you want SQ or Loud SQ it better be.

no i wish...i can get a good deal for the front stage

i would say the only reason i said JL in this setup is because of the small space the subs require a guy on caraudio forum said all i will be able to fit is two ported 12 properly

look at the pic above of 4 ported and plenty of space left for his amp rack. I bet you have more space than you think. Thats a big car.

that look like a 94-96 impala i know they have a huge trunk the one im about to buy is older...google 1985-1990 impala/caprice to see what im talking about

Then your goals aren't going to fit the requirements. If you truly want SQ or Loud SQ you should really spend MORE or at least as much on your front stage. In a true SQ setup, the sub is trivial to say the least.

my thing is i dont want a complete spl setup i want a system thats going to play music and have that deep deep bass

And that is very, very far from an SQ setup. Your terminology is very confused. I would also expect that your idea of deep bass is as well. A BL will EASILY play low enough for you.

sorry about that i should have said that first...but can the BL's play in a sealed box?

no

will the position of the subs have an effect on how they play? i was leaning more to a multiple sealed setup in a fiberglass box with the subs firing at different angels

You shouldn't shoot angels, messing with a higher power can't be good.

Realistically you need to start much simpler. Keep it simple the first time. Build a ported box and go from there.
