First off, hello again. It's been well over a year since I last posted - I used to hang around here back in the beginning.

So I have a 99 silverado single cab. I recently got my system stolen (kenwood HU, RF amp, JL 8w7) and I need a new solution that's not as obvious and hidden a little easier. Sadly I must go back to the stock radio because I'm afraid it would be broken into again. I have an MA amp the fits under the seat and powers the 4x6s and components in the doors so I'm not worried about that. Past that I'm not sure...

My question is what next?

I know it's vague but I don't have a lot of space and I don't know what to do. I hate lowering my standards but I'd rather do that and have some piece of mind than get what I want and be afraid it will be stolen.

I have always heard 6x9s sound bad in a single cab but have never heard them for myself - what about 4 powered 6x9s behind the seats. That could be hidden much easier.

Any input is appreciated

Thanks!

Tom

well if you are thinking sub wise... i kinda think like this... Make it too big/heavy for them to take it out :) haha

haha well thats a good idea but not for me. I wasn't specific up there but they actually couldn't get the 8w7 out si I didnt lose that. However, is anything big like that is in there then they have a reason to break in and check for more. I don't want to give ANY reason to break in, you know?

Thanks!

buy a hu with detachable face and bolt the box down , amp under seat.

Well a guy that lives right buy me got his truck broken into the same night (prob the same guys) and they stole the HU with a detachable face....even though the face wasn't on it. My point is that if there is any indication of anything other than stock then I don't want it because that will give them a reason to break in.

Thanks,

Tom

You should just get a alarm system if you don't already have one. Or like everyone is saying, just bolt everything down. Sorry to hear about this though :ehh:

Bolt EVERYTHING down with Torx bolts. You could fabricate a bracket to hold your HU in with bolts as well.

Build a blow through with 4 15"s and a 300LBS box bolt it down to bed and cover the bed.

THEN get a RF 360.2 and run your stock H/U.........

or

an alarm, and if you really want the stock radio use the RF 360.2.

get break proof laminate sheeting, car alarm with pager and contact insurance company and get your aftermarket coverage increased to a point that will cover everything that can be stolen or damaged.

I agree with shizzzon. Also try tinting your windows, getting a nice alarm and, if you can, insurance to cover your aftermarket products.

tinting alone is actually worse!

For those out there who tint your car for security reasons only will only make it worse and this is from experience.

Breaking through a tinted window is silent and almost mess-free. If you are gonna tint, might as well install break proof glass and\or a sensitive alarm.

Adding sheets to glass requires to increase sensitivity on the shock sensor so it can pickup vibrations.

I guess you're right.
