Posted June 5, 200916 yr I'm trying to figure out my next box. The program I'm using is tells me that my port will be 5Tx10Wx17.5D. Now how much of an effect will it have if I was to change the opening to 3.5Tx11.5Wx17.5D?? I'm looking to tune it to 34Hz. Thx from the help. Edited June 5, 200916 yr by oxsign
June 6, 200916 yr It depends entirely on the size of the box, which you didn't tell us. But lowering the port area, as you did, lowers the tune. For example, in a 4 cubic foot box, it lowers the tune from 38 to 34.5 hz.

So by shortening the shape in one direction, but adding it in the other and not altering the Leigh still changed the tuning?
June 6, 200916 yr Well do the math. 5" x 10" port opening is 50 sq. inches. 3.5" x 11.5" is 40.25 sq. inches.
