I need some help with lights

I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra and am craving some brighter lights, and these seem to be the 2 most common solutions.

I would like to know the difference between the 2 bulbs. Mainly I want to know the differences in installation, design, length of life, equipment needed, etc.

Also can someone shed some light on how many kits I need..........Sorry if I sound like a complete dipshit, but the only experiience with headlights was in my old Corsica which had 2 bulbs per light.
