I can't help but notice that manufacturer are still using paper cone subwoofers,

while other companies are using aulumium, carbon, poly cones etc. etc.

What is the purpose for having paper around?

You would think having paper in the automotive enviroment would be a bad idea, considering

things like moist/ Uv rays.

For example most factory speakers found in cars are paper, over a period of time

they become dry-rotted or cracked, in other words wheather beaten.

Most paper nowadays is treated to resist the elements. There's really nothing to worry about with a paper or pulp-coned driver aside from the cheap shit that vehicle manufacturers are still using. Pretty much any aftermarket quality driver with a paper cone will last for YEARS.

IMO, there is no better sounding cone material than paper. It's stiff, lightweight, economical, and aesthetically appealing.

ditto if you notice the paper is still left even after the foam shroud's disappear on oem speakers lol's
