Hi, I recently purchased a used Alumapro 15 Farad Cap. The guy I bought it from was using it with no relay or solenoid which Alumapro provides when purchased new. Am I ok with using it how he had it with no accessories? I've asked around but not many people are too familiar with The CAP.

Thanks!

....Why Do You Need A Cap? Throw It In A Dumpster And Light It On Fire, That's All They're Good For.

I hate to be the guy to say this, but caps aren't going to help you too much. I am very familiar with Alumapro, seeing that they are carried at the shop I work for. Caps aren't 100% useless, people just suggest them to be used in wrong applications. You don't use a cap for dimming lights, the only thing a cap will do is maintain a more consistent voltage at all times. I have a 5 farad in my car, honestly I don't need it and honestly I now wish i would have purchased a battery

You should be fine using it without the relay and solenoid. I have used mine like that for years. Just on the initial hookup, use maybe a 10 ohm high wattage resistor to initially charge the cap. If you hook it up without trickling the charge, that surge could warp the plates inside the cap. You should be fine. Mine never even came with the relays and I bought mine new.

There is no point of installing cap at all, waste of money ?

To Me, Yes.

To Some Ricer Boy Who Likes Flashy LED Readouts And A Chromed Soda-Can Paperweight, No.

I See No Need In Them, Whatsoever. They Cause More Harm Than Good In 99% Of Applications They Are In.
