That's called the core support. You will have to cut all the spotwelds to remove it. Judging by the picture, I'd venture to say it pulled in both front fender aprons as well. You really should take it to a frame shop first so they can tell you exactly what is wrong, and how wrong it is.

IMO, if you don't know how to remove the core support, you really shouldn't be taking on this project.

I myself have no idea how to do it, my uncle is doing it though, he's drilling out all the spot welds, and the rest of the frame is fine, passenger side fender got smashed a bit, but I already got another one.
