I'm ordering comps for my front stage along with a amp, not sure what I should be looking at for quality though.

If I put comps up front can I keep my 6.5 coax in the back and just run a 4 channel amp to the 6.5's and the fronts?

Would that sound right?

Trying to keep it under 250 for comps and amp

What Amp Were You Thinking Of, Not Many Good 4 Channels That Cost Less Than $220.

Ditch The Rears Completely, You'd Be Amazed How Loud And Clear You Can Get On Only 4 Drivers.

Do You Want To Run Pro Audio Equipment Or Normal 6.5" Woofers? Active Mach 5 Audio MLI-6.5"s Come To Mind With Some Seas, Morel, Or Vifa Tweets. :D

I was thinking any amp I could get that puts out 75-100rms a channel.

Would the comp set pull a 4 ohm load or a 2 ohm load from the amp?

I was looking at the kicker 5 1/4" component set, only $99 here My link

And then RF has a decent looking comp set too, My link

Either Set Would Do, I Know Some People That Run The Kicker Component Set And They Aren't Bad For That Price.

It Depends On How You Wire It, You Can Get A 4 Ohm Or A 2 Ohm Load Presented To The Amp.

Now The Problem Is Finding That Amp. Because A Sundown SAX-50.4 Is Around $205 - $215.

But I will only need a 2 channel amp if I just run comps and get rid of the back speakers right?

And how would I get a 2 ohm load out of the amp?

Why do you want a 2ohms load for you amp?

Take the BEST comps you can for front, and with the money left try to find a little 2 channel amp or a 4 ch if you keep the rear speakers.

Put the more money on the front speakers, and find a cheap amp or a good used one!

Just my little opinion
