I've seen that some amps have a wired remote controller and my question is what does it do. Does it control the gain or bass boost because both of these are controlled by knobs on the amp so whats the point of having the remote? I don't know if this was posted before but i couldn't find anything on it.

Okay take that little remote and the wire, put them in the package it came in and hide it. That's the best thing you can do

that makes sense

Most of the time it controls bass boost, some remote control both and have two knobs. I hope you know bass boost is a no-no, that's why I said you should put it away and takeiteasy...haha that was funny :D

i have always wondered. i like using a bass knob sometimes tho because you can turn it down when you like quickly see a cop or something. What makes them bad exactly?

There shouldn't even be a bass boost on the amp itself, all you need is gain and crossover settings. Bass boost is the easiest way to clip your equipment.

If you know how to set up your equipment then by all means use the bass boost, just remember that most bass boost is centered at 45 Hz. which is close to where most people set their lo-pass filters so they normally bypass the bass boost.

I've read that the bass boost boosts the signal in the 45 hz range and since cabin gain already makes the volume louder in that range it's useless and once you match the voltage on the head unit to the amp it shouldn't be touched. Something like that.

btw for thoese that dont know there are two different types of knobs

Bass Boost knob which is self explanitory it controls the bass boost

and a

Gain Control Knob which you could have guessed controls your gain and if it is not a gai control knob throw it away you wont need it
