Posted August 12, 200916 yr i was wondering if i would do any damge to any component of my system by using a dual 1 ohm sub, and a dual 2 ohm sub together? Also, for us dummys out here, what is the formula to figure the resistance when wiring like that? i know there is a way to get my resistance between 1 and 2 ohms that way, but might need a diagram, where could i find that?
August 12, 200916 yr i think it will cause problems.current will flow to path of least resistance, so it will be uneven.you dont want to mix subs like that.im no expert, hopefully someone will explain further for you..
August 12, 200916 yr Do not mix up diffrent subwoofers, either use the dual 1 or dual 2 or get 2 identical subwoofers. Look up some resistance calculations. Basic formula is : 1/r = 1/r1 + 1/r2 for parallel connection of loads r1 and r2. r = r1 + r2 for series connection.
August 12, 200916 yr Right. The sub wired to the lower impedance will receive more power than the other one.
August 12, 200916 yr Hey, aside from minute fluctuations, in theory, would a d1 and a d4 work, if wired @ 2ohm?Edit: for sake of argument, make it of the same sub, different coils. Edited August 12, 200916 yr by DeepSubBoy
August 12, 200916 yr Hey, aside from minute fluctuations, in theory, would a d1 and a d4 work, if wired @ 2ohm?Edit: for sake of argument, make it of the same sub, different coils.Parameters of the subs would be different just because of the coil size difference. Plus some parameters differ when a sub is wired in series vs. parallel.
