June 6, 200520 yr This guy is to subs as Hollis is to amps. 'not to say that he hasn't broken amps, but he's gone through a lot of subs.
June 6, 200520 yr With the proto 15 being about 50% of its potential, I doubt it'll turn heads in the SPL area. The bad pole/backplate is doing serious damage to the drivers performance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I have no idea what this means but will it be resolved with the final version?

June 7, 200520 yr I had reservations about sending it out, but it sounded so good that I had to get it to a few people. The chrome was too thick on the proto (it was outsourced locally and they screwed up) so the former hits the bad/thick chrome on the pole at/near 2" of throw. That particular problem (AKA: the ONLY problem) with the 15 will not exist on the production drivers.
June 7, 200520 yr As far as the older generation Mags are concerned, they are real robust.I messed about with one below tuning a couple of times, we fed it an RFb1500 on a daily basis until the RF would shut down, we pretty much did everything with it to see when it would complain. It took all like a trooper. Dont forget impedance rise in a box. You may have 6,000RMS in theory, but the time you calculate real voltage and real world impedance rise, you wont be getting near that 6,000RMS.But anyway, the old Mags were a strong, well designed driver. Personally I think musically it wouldn't be that happy with anything over 1700-1800RMS, but for burps, I think 3kRMS a Mag would be fine, depending on install, box and all that.So in theory 6,000qualityRMS between a pair may be quite doable for SPL
June 8, 200520 yr So the prototype beat two momos (I believe I saw this in someother post) and it has defects!? That's awesome if I understand this correctly.
